Fact and Faith

Fact and Faith
“The Message that points to Christ on the Cross seems like sheer silliness to those hellbent on destruction, but for those on the way of salvation it makes perfect sense. This is the way God works, and most powerfully as it turns out. It’s written,

I’ll turn conventional wisdom on its head, I’ll expose so-called experts as crackpots.
So where can you find someone truly wise, truly educated, truly intelligent in this day and age? Hasn’t God exposed it all as pretentious nonsense? Since the world in all its fancy wisdom never had a clue when it came to knowing God, God in his wisdom took delight in using what the world considered dumb—preaching, of all things!—to bring those who trust him into the way of salvation”. 1Corinthians 1:18-18 The Message

I have known and do know, people who spend a great deal of time attempting to prove the factual realities of the bible. My question is: If the bible is a compilation of facts, what role does faith play? I mean if I can prove the bible as fact in every respect, then there is no room for faith.

The bible is not a book of science or history. It is not a book whose sole purpose is to provide us rules to get to heaven and the consequences of those rules if we break those rules. It is a book that provides each of us with instruction in the way of life and blessing. It provides us with a practical application of faith and spirituality that we can use in our everyday life. In my opinion any theology that has no practical daily application is useless. God never intend us to wait till we die to experience real life. Life is meant to be lived on the ground while we are still around not in the sky when we die.

I do not accept the bible based upon the facts that it contains. I accept it by faith. And, by faith I apply the principles contained in this divinely inspired work. And, the application of these principles has improved the quality of my life in every area. And, I am convinced that when a person opens up their spirit (the real you) they too can experience the same life giving power that I have found. A life built by faith.
