The Right Question

live-life-390x280I was at an event conducted by a well known success coach. During one of the sessions he allowed the audience to ask him any question. And, many did. However, I began to notice in their questions. They all asked basically the same question; ‘What do you think I should do?” Their questions we all “me” centered.
Think sort of irritated me. Here is a man who has helped thousands of people. He has earned millions of dollars. He is a role model of personal success. Rather than asking “what about me” questions, I felt they should have been asking “what did you do to get where you” questions. There may not be anything such thing as a dumb question. But there are asking the wrong question. I felt the wrong questions were being asked.

The writer of the book of Hebrews stated: “And as it is appointed unto men once to die….”(Hebrews 9.27 KJV). If you have not come to the realization yet, nobody gets off this spinning blue marble alive. And, the older you get the more you become aware of your own mortality. There is no avoiding it. We all are going to die. And, this reality causes people to question: “When or how will I die?” We all would like to know our expiration date. However, is that really the best question we should be asking ourselves? I don’t think it is. Rather than asking “how am I going to die?” shouldn’t we be asking: “How am I going to live?”

Your death is a given. It is going to happen. So, until then how are you going to live your life? To determine how you’re going to live your life, start by asking yourself some questions:

1. What kind of tomorrow do I want to have? Do you want a tomorrow that is financially secure? Do you want a tomorrow that is healthy? Do you want a tomorrow where there is harmony between you and loved ones?

2. What are you willing to do to make that tomorrow a reality? Ready or not tomorrow is coming. Understand that nothing in life “just” happens. You must take action!

Understand this: Nothing in life “just” happens. Our universe is governed by laws. And, one of those laws is the law of cause and effect. The quality of your life will be determined by the actions (causes) you have taken. There is no amount of luck, chance, fate, destiny or prayer that will change what your actions have created. Your tomorrow will be determined by what you do, not by what you wish for.

The bible tells us faith without works is dead (James 2.20). Or you could say it this way “faith without corresponding actions is useless.” You can want and wish all you want to. But until you take action NOTHING will change.
So, HOW do you want to live? And WHAT are you going to do to make it happen?
