God isn’t color blind

It was perhaps one of the dumbest things I had ever heard. It came from a misguided ultra rightwing leaning individual. Just knowing that should’ve been enough to enlighten me on just how absurd the comment was. In laughable attempt to bash the Obama administration, he took a swing at the 2010 Census. In my opinion, if you are going to commit an act of civil disobedience at least do it where people can take you seriously.

In his anti-government rant he instructed people to do as he did when completing their census form. There is a portion that asks for person’s race. This guy asked that people write in American! Because we are all Americans! Last time I checked American ain’t a race there Forrest. I know what he was getting at. But he was definitely mistaken in his comments.

People say similar things when they say God is color blind. And, as good as that sounds it isn’t true either. If God doesn’t see color then why did he make different colors in humanity? To say that God doesn’t see red and yellow, black and white is absurd. To say that God doesn’t see color is saying the omniscient One doesn’t know something. What we really mean when we say God doesn’t see color is God does not prefer one over the other. And neither should we.

Diversity is part of God’s creation. It should be embraced and celebrated. Making everything vanilla is BORING! He made each of us in His image and likeness. He made all races in His image. Think about that! We all reflect the face of God. Therefore, we should respect and love one another as we all bear his resemblance. God isn’t color blind. He made us all the way we are.
